How to care for your oily skin

For you to have an oily skin, this means that your sebaceous glands responsible for sebum production overly produces sebum more than normal. Sebum is a waxy matter that protect and lubricates the skin and hair of mammals. In humans, sebum is found in great abundance around the face and scalp region even though they are distributed all over except for the palms and soles. Sometimes, having an oily skin can be frustrating and annoying and you can feel as though you're forever fighting a losing battle.Excessive oily skin is often hereditary , meaning it is often handed down through generations within a family. In addition, to hereditary, other factors like stress, and changes in hormone are contributing factors.Take for example, Pregnant women and those taking oral contraceptives are more likely to have problems with oily skin, but sometimes pregnancy is said to improve acne in some people. Changes in hormone levels during puberty and early 20s in girls, can cause the skin to become oily and can trigger outbreaks of acne because girls tend to have an increase in male sex hormones; androgens which is produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands, this increase in turn causes the glands to get larger and make more sebum. Many women notice that their skin feels oilier around their menstrual cycle and during menopause; This is due to the fluctuating levels of androgen. The good news about oily skin is that it keeps the skin looking younger. Over time, people with oily skin tend to have less wrinkle appearance as opposed to people with dry or normal skin. How can a person manage oily skin so that it looks great? #1-Do not use facial scrubs on oily skin because it stimulates more oil production. use products that contain AHA (Alpha hydroxy acids): like glycolic acid(found in sugars), citric acid(found in citrus fruits), and lactic acid(found in milk). or enzymes which will help the glue holding dead skin cells stuck to the skin. #2-Use facial foamy cleansers morning and night with a gentle slightly ph balance (slightly acidic). This is because slightly acidic ph prevents the growth of bacteria. Most "Soap cleansers" are highly alkaline and tend to remove the natural layer of the skin thereby making it more susceptible for bacterial invasion. Use homemade cleansers like Clay and Geranium facial wash, honey milk facial cleanser and so on. All these cleansers will make an amazing facial wash for acne, and oily skin, since clay and honey is one of the most multifaceted and potent ingredient you can use on the skin. #3-Use an alcohol or acetone free toner: Alcohol containing toners can be very drying to the skin thereby stimulating the oil producing gland to produce more oil. Homemade toners like rose water facial toner, peppermint facial toner and lots more... are very good for use. #4-Avoid Using oil based moisturizers: Moisture and oil differ, Moisture is water based and oily skin does need moisture.Oily skin can suffer from dehydration if you dont take enough water. Be sure to drink alot of water. #5-Use the Alpha hydroxy acids or enzymes mask twice a week to improve circulation and oxygen exchange of the skin, and brighten up dull looking skin by removing dead skin cells. Again, subsequent use can stimulate oil production, and we don't want that. #6-Use a clay mask once a week to help tighten pores and keep the skin clean without over treating it thus refining the skin. #7-Be very steady with your skincare routine especially at night because the skin tends to produce newer cells at night than when awake. #8-Use NATURAL products:Avoid artificial products like mineral oil, coloring agents, syntehtic chemicals and artififcial perfumes at all cost!!! i cant emphasize more on this. #9-Use mineral powder or oil-free powders during the daytime: Do not use cream blush;instead use powder blush, do not use cream eye shadows;use powder eye shadows. #10-Change face cloth everyday, as oil becomes stale very easily. Wash make up brushes and applicators on a weekly basis. This might seem very difficult but very doable, keep hands off your face and clean your phone with an alcohol wipe daily before answering if using directly without head phones. #11-Lastly, eat well!!!. you can visit our website at www.frailisse.com For those interested in the recipes for the toners, moisturisers and cleansers or for any other questions. please let me know by dropping a message at the comment box down below. sources:www.nighthag.hugpages.com Sources:www.webmd.com Sources:www.perfectpills.com I hope you enjoyed and benefitted, Thanking you for taking the time to read, HAPPY VALENTINE! and stay blessed.

Why use chemicals to destroy your beautiful skin?

Hey Guys, here i am again! As you all most have known by now I am a huge fan of natural and organic products. having done series of research, i decided to create a blog with the title "why go or use natural products" yesterday. Those interested can look it up. Come to think of it we use all these cosmetic products with harsh chemicals in them for one reason or the other without knowing what they do to our skin. Many of us use these products skin problems such as acne, wrinkles, stretch marks and so on...while, nature has given us so much natural things we can use to treat all these problems at a lesser time, no side effects, and at a cheaper cost than all the cosmetic brands out there. Why pay more money to destroy your skin? when all you might need to treat your problem is right in your kitchen. As we all know, we need a lot of vitamins and minerals in our system for us to look healthy. Since we can ingest, why cant we as well apply it on our skin to make it look more healthier and beautiful?, i guess that wont hurt. I grew up to have a combination with an acne prone skin, which was quiet annoying and frustrating. There was a time in my life that i bought all the fancy scrubs and cleansers from the department store. And paid a fortune for them. A few years ago I decided to give some of the homemade versions a try. and you know what?from my personal experience, the homemade products have worked just as well, if not better for me. i will share one of my favorite recipe here today. This brown sugar honey scrub works very well, smells 100 times better, and costs 95% less to make.No joke! this is my all time favorite scrub. But what I love even more about this scrub is that its all natural and toxin free. We all know that Raw pure honey is a humectant i.e it draws moisture into the skin without leaving the skin dry as most scrubs after exfoliating do. It also has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacteial properties which helps to combat acne, in addition it has anti-aging properties. It is known that ancient women like Cleopatra used honey and milk to keep the skin youthful, radiant, and smooth. Brown sugar:Brown sugar contains glycolic acid, that fights bacteria. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxyl acid, which is important in keeping our skin vivacious and healthy. Brown sugar gives you younger and fresher looking skin by breaking down glue-bonded skin cells which supports cell turnover. It also helps to improve sun damage and offers support to aging skin. Certain exfoliators can leave your skin dry and dull. Brown sugar is a natural humectant just like honey, so it absorbs moisture from your environment and deposits it into your skin. Hydrating and conditioning, brown sugar helps to keep the moisture locked in. It also guards your skin from destructive toxins and keeps it healthy, nourished and glowing. After knowing all these, we can now proceed to making our honey sugar scrub: Ingrdients:1-tablespoon of brown sugar 1-tablespoon of raw honey Procedure: Place the brown sugar and honey in a small bowl and mix well. Store in a jar with an air tight lid. Keep at room temperature. How to use:Wash face well. Apply a small amount of scrub(about 1/2 t.) to a wet skin and massage gently in a circular motion. Avoid eye area. Rinse face well and pat dry. This leaves my skin perfectly smooth and soft. I absolutely love it and love what it does for my skin. The cost doesn't hurt either. Try it out guys and let me know your reviews about it. I hope you will enjoy it just like i did! You can also check www.frailisse.com for some amazing natural skin care products.

why go or use natural products?

First of all, we have to all understand what the word "natural" is. Natural is said to be something that exists, or caused by nature, not made or caused by humankind. Then we can proceed by asking ourselves what the skin is, since most natural products are applied on the skin or ingested. The skin is the largest organ, and it is responsible for regulating your external and internal balances; it maintains our body temperature, regulates our body’s fluid balance and is the first line of defense against external enemies, and absorbs almost everything you apply on it.so one can imagine the damage caused by applying harmful elements to the skin.Have we ever asked ourselves what kind of products we are applying on our skin? i guess to most people the answer might be "NO",but i believe that is a very good question to ask ourselves.Make sure you recognize the ingredients in your skin care products as natural or learn what they are before applying. A survey carried out by the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health studies found over 884 chemicals used in personal care products and cosmetics as being toxic and estimates that women absorb up to 2 kilograms of chemicals through toiletries and cosmetics alone over the course of a year.Over 700 of them caused acute toxic affects and over 300 caused developmental abnormalities, and this is because these chemicals may absorb into your body and brain 3 times faster than water. Please note the most harmful and toxic skin care products today on your labels before making any purchase: Butyl paraben Isopropyl alcohol DEA (Diethanolamine) MEA (monoethanolamine) TEA (triethanolamine) DMDM Hydantion Urea (Imidazolidinyl) Hydroquinone FD&C Color Pigments Fragrances Methyl Paraben Mineral oil Paraben Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Butylene Glycol Sodium Laurel Sulfate Sodium Laureth Sulfate Triclosan (used in anti-bacterial products – VERY bad. Use grapefruit seed extract and essential oils instead) Othoxalation (this is a process, not an ingredient so it is not on the labels. It is used in cleansing products and very carcinogenic) Source: Hoffman, Susan, herbalist. Skin Care Fact Sheet. Throughout our existence, the usefulness of natural products for medicine, beauty and health has been vast. Since our earliest ancestors chewed on certain herbs to relieve pain, or wrapped leaves around wounds to improve healing, natural products have often been the sole means to treat diseases and injuries. In fact, it has only been during the past years that natural products have taken a secondary role in drug discovery and drug development, after the emergence of molecular biology and combinatorial chemistry made possible the rational design of chemical compounds to target specific molecules. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2658564/ Choosing organic/natural ingredients ensures that there are no chemicals added and farming takes it a step further still.
